Introduction

Standardized Work is a cornerstone of LEAN systems. This course explains how to document and implement the best-known method for doing a job safely, effectively, and efficiently. Standardized Work allows teams to ensure consistency, enable training, and lay the foundation for continuous improvement.

You’ll learn how to develop and maintain Standardized Work documents for both cyclical and non-cyclical activities. This includes Job Element Sheets (JES) for Production tasks with repetitive sequences, as well as Standard Task Sheets (STS) for non-cyclical maintenance and support roles.

Learning Format

Online Course Format:

  • Students are provided with a printable PDF document that provides a convenient format for capturing notes during the course.
  • Course content is broken up into a series of modules.
  • Each module consists of "bite sized" instructor-led lessons with a  Knowledge Check quiz at the end of each module, along with an Applied Learning activity. 
  • Each Applied Learning activity challenges the student to apply concepts learned in the module to a situation in their workplace and is usually 30–60 minutes in duration.
  • Applied Learning activity examples from previous sessions are reviewed at the end of each module.
  • Each course has a dashboard % completion that tracks progress
  • A course Certificate is awarded to students that get through all content and complete all Knowledge Check quizzes.

Learning Support

Webinars and email:

  • Students will be able to attend a bi-monthly live webinar to get questions answered they have submitted by email.  Time permitting, there is a chat feature that can be used for questions with any remaining time. The webinars are usually every week, but they are offered a minimum of twice per month.  The calendar and sign-up for the webinar series are part of the course dashboard.
  • Questions are also answered via email, depending on the student's preference.
